Poem by Paul Metcalf with quote from Herman Melville

From Out of the Earth pink 88”H x 22”W x 3”DThis is an original painting by Joby Baker. This figurative painting is gestural, expressive, and dramatic. Baker paints with eloquent brushstrokes that demonstrate both form and feeling. His paintings often feature figures in moments of isolation and situations of anguish and disfigurement. He explores the recurrent themes of an isolated man, a split figure, or figure emerging from or blending into another.
