Arming caps of this type were employed primarily beneath helmets fitted with a visor, such as the closed helmet, bascinet, or armet. The original is nowadays held as part of the Hofjagd und Rstkammer in Vienna. Constructed from canvas and linen, the arming cap features a woollen lining.
